MEET THE GRANDMASTER

Nadezhda (Nadya) Kosintseva is a distinguished chess player with titles like Woman Grandmaster (WGM) and Grandmaster (GM). She's renowned for winning multiple championships and international events.
 

While Kosintseva's playing style is universal, she is also a strong tactician known for her calculation skills. She retired from competitive chess about a decade ago when she became a mother, and now promotes chess in many other ways. She currently lives in the Boston area with her family.

MEET THE ORGANIZER

Jorge Oliveira learned how to play chess at age 10 and the game became an integral part of his life forever. Originally from Sao Paulo state, Brazil, he represented his school and city for many years in his youth at both the local and national level, winning multiple tournaments. Jorge started teaching chess when he was 18 and has served in multiple chess clubs, both in Brazil and across the US. He founded a club at Ensign College in Utah, and co-founded another at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Jorge served on the MECA board of directors in 2023, and currently coaches and promotes chess in southern Maine, where he lives with his family.
